Core Contents Media girl group, T-ara falls debt able because of a lawsuit against Chantelaine.
Chantelaine, a known brand of fashionable and sophisticated clothes, got T-ara as an endorser last March 2012. The girl group signed a 400,000,000 KRW (estimated to be $360,000) contract with the brand.
It was July 2012 when T-ara got into a controversy against their former member, Ryu Hwa-young, who was the newest member in the group at that time. Hwa-young had to leave T-ara because of alleged times her group members bullied her, which was even caught on various shows where the group guested or performed. Because of that, viewers and fans got angry and demanded T-ara an explanation of their careless actions. The incident caused the group a horrible image to them, thus, making Chantelaine terminate their contract.
Core Contents Media settled to give back the contract money to Chantelaine and gave a promissory note for the said amount. But because of compulsory expulsion, Core Contents Media filed a lawsuit against the clothing brand, saying that Chantelaine should stop all endorsements from all T-ara members, but they have been continuing to benefit from them.
It was September 8 when the judge dismissed the agency's case, therefore, making Core Contents Media pay 400,000,000 KRW to Chantelaine.
