Tony Ahn, Lee Soo Geun, and Tak Jae Hoon recently attend the first court hearing for the illegal gambling charges on December 6 at the Seoul Central District Court. The three, along with other celebrities, were summoned for investigation for their involvement in online gambling activities and were proven guilty of such charges.
The three personalities appeared in corporate suit and tie as they heard charges being read to them by public prosecutors. They spoke through their representing attorneys as they admitted to the charges and made no objections to the claims and evidences cited by the court against them.
According to findings, the trio made use of text messaging to place large amounts of bets on football matches in the English Premiere League. They would later claim their winnings through an online gambling website.
Lee Soo Geun has gambled a total of 3.7 billion won from December 2008 to June 2011; Tae Jae Hoon, 2.9 billion won from 2008 to 2011; and Tony wagered the highest amount of 4 billion won from May 2009 to March 2012. The three were given higher fines compared to other involved personalities due to habitual practice.
Tony Ahn, Lee Soo Geun, and Tak Jae Hoon, and the others has since then stepped down temporarily from their respective television shows to concentrate on facing their charges and reflect on their actions.
