With over thousands or even millions of followers, artists make themselves known to people in all four corners of the world with the help of the internet. Although, artists frequently conduct tours and concerts outside Korea, not everyone gets to see them. The internet is used as a tool by the fans to update themselves in the comfort of their time and place.

Artists' can also reach out to fans with the help of social media. For example, Nichkhun likes to hold a fan talk once in a while through his Twitter account, making fans asks him casual questions. He gained popularity because of this, making the fans feel appreciated when he answers their questions.

Controversies of artists start also with their social network accounts. Fans and bashers see every post they make, thus, can make speculations and as a result turn them to controversies or even scandals.

Like one of the most talked about person right now is Clara Lee. Critiques have noticed the things she had said in various guesting in shows. SNS made way for bashers to her, making her deactivate her personal Facebook account.

Verbal Jint, rapper, experienced the same thing as well. He received negative statements from a critique on his Twitter, saying that his musical talent have seemed to be lacking mentally, hence making him answer back, which makes his image to the readers of his post, negative.

Therefore, social media can equally make or break an artist. It is how the artist reacts to its followers' positive or negative statements. Controversies fuel up if artists get back at their critiques, so better be silent so that flames would not arise, feeling stressed emotionally and psychologically or in worst case, make their career fade.
