Woman Arrested After Threatening JYJ's Yoochun

A woman was recently taken into police custody after she was found to be blackmailing JYJ member, Park Yoochun.

A woman was recently taken into police custody after she was found to be blackmailing JYJ member, Park Yoochun.

Earlier today, a report was released stating that a male idol-turned-actor, Yoochun, had been receiving threats from a woman in her thirties. "A" managed to get hold of a cell phone that happened to belong to Yoochun's ex-girlfriend. The cell phone contained text exchanges and photographs of Yoochun and his former girlfriend.

"A" allegedly asked the idol group member 50 million KRW (approx. 47 thousand USD) in exchange for the phone. Yoochun, through his agency, offered "A" 1 million KRW (940 USD) as a sort of reward for finding the phone. However, "A" refused and raised her demands to 100 million KRW (94,000 USD).

Yoochun immediately reported to incident to the police, and soon afterwards "A" was arrested at a café in Gangnam.

The Gangnam Police stated, "We have arrested 'A', who has been threatening to spread the text messages and photos on the internet if Park Yoochun, his manager, and agency did not meet her demands of 100 million KRW."

C-JeS Entertainment also issued a statement regarding the situation, saying, "Ms. Park extracted some personal information from a cell phone which she acquired. When she found Yoochun's name [in the contacts], she demanded 100 million KRW in exchange for not spreading to contents of the phone. There is nothing to hide, but the crime is severe so we requested an investigation. Since she demanded a large amount of money, she was arrested and the case has been moved to the prosecution."
