Rookie girl group Year 7 Class 1 recently raised an outrage after their latest concept was found to be "glorifying" school bullying.

At first hand, the group's concept fittingly embraces the group's name of Year 7 Class 1, whereby each member plays the role of a class officer such as president, vice-president, Head of Entertainment, Head of Athletics, and etc. However, the controversy stemmed from the fact that one of the members is labelled the "bread shuttle", which is a slang term for someone who is bullied into running errands such as buying food or cigarettes for older students. Netizens considered this a form of bullying and school violence, and strongly expressed their disapproval of the group's open use of the term "bread shuttle" in the form of entertainment.

Member Yoo Hwa came to the group's defence and explained, "Although 'bread shuttle' holds a negative connotation, we decided to use that term with the idea of showing that we can mesh well with others."

The group will be singing for a wide age group, including young children who are still in school. This image could inculcate the wrong behaviour in the youth, thus causing netizens' negative response. However, does Yoo Hwa's reasoning justify the group's 'bread shuttle' reference? Comment below.
