Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon recently revealed that she won a gold medal on a skiing competition prior to the group's debut.
During the March 17 broadcast of "Healing Camp" Hyoyeon shared, "During the group's hiatus, there were members who were busy with projects, while others didn't have any. That time, I was constantly thinking about what I should do to improve my life."
She continued, "I got to know a lot of people from all walks of life, and I learned a lot. I picked up skiing for the first time this past winter. Since I had a good dancing background, I was able to pick up skiing rather quickly. My coach then suggested that I should join the All National Skiing Competition for the young women category."
Hyoyeon then shared her road to victory. "At the event, no one knew I was a Girls' Generation member because my face was hidden behind a safety helmet, face mask, and gear. I thought that even if I didn't win, no one would know, and I can just go home afterwards. But if things turned out well, I would take off my helmet. In the end, my time was the fastest and so I took home the gold."
13th Korean Council of Sport for All National Skiing Competition was held last February at Welli Hilli Park in Gangwondo. Hyoyeon competed against 3 other women.
Congratulations, Hyoyeon!
