The premiere of BoA's first Hollywood flick, "Make Your Move", is just around the corner, but people are still wondering how the Korean singer-actress snagged the leading role.
"Make Your Move" is directed by Duane Adler, the same person behind the screenplay of the hit dance flick "Step Up". From the very beginning of the production for "Make Your Move", BoA was already pinned to play the lead role.
Around 2006, Adler was amazed after seeing the popular Broadway performance of Cobu, the central dance group of the movie. While Adler was still scouting for actors to star in the film, she came across BoA's music video when she was still 17, and was immediately won over.
In the film, Cobus' dance routine was choreographed by Yako Miyamoto, and was a fusion of Japanese traditional Taiko drumming and rhythmic tap dancing, which fit BoA exceptionally well.
Adler, who personally visited Japan to see BoA perform live, was not only impressed by her fantastic performance, but also by her huge fan base. When the proposal came, BoA willingly signed up for the movie.
"Make Your Move" will premiere on April 17.
