Following Hyoyeon's involvement in an assault case, the Girls Generation member has now caused a huge buzz after new rumours unveiled the singer's alleged suicide attempt.
Rumour about Hyoyeon's suicide attempts started circulating online communities even before the news of her assault case came out. One netizen posted, "My friend's sister had a friend who is a police officer. And [on March 30], Hyoyeon tried to commit suicide because she's being bullied by the other members of Girls' Generation. When this guy saw what she was about to do, she tried to stop her. Hyoyeon said she was going to kill herself, so she hit the guy for trying to stop her. They went to the police station thereafter. It was a big mess."
Netizens began connecting the dots and figured out that SM Entertainment must have reached an agreement with the said male witness in order to keep things quiet.
With this shocking turn of events, SM Entertainment released an official statement to clarify things and reassure worried fans. On April 2, the agency stated that they would take legal actions against anyone who would spread false rumours attacking Hyoyeon. The agency said, "We're requesting everyone who posted this rumour on their SNS and blog to please delete the said post."
