Hara, Han Hye Jin and Hyun Bin Awardees in the 50th “Savings Day” Ceremony

Korean celebs are awarded for being savings-savvy in the upcoming 50th Savings Day Ceremony. "Jumong" actress Hye Jin, "Secret Garden" star Hyun Bin, and KARA member Gu Hara are some of the artists recognized for their outstanding money-saving efforts.

"Jumong" actress Hye Jin, "Secret Garden" star Hyun Bin, and KARA member Gu Hara are some of the artists recognized for their outstanding money-saving efforts.

Among the other stars mentioned were baseball player Lee Dae Ho and "Boys Over Flowers" actress Lee Hye Young.

The Financial Services Commission, the agency in charge of the ceremony, said Kara's Gu Hara was recognized for her involvement in promoting to the community the importance of saving as well as her generous donations to charity.

A representative from the award giving body also explained their reason for selecting Hyun Bin. "He normally practices saving and through his diligent military service, the Ministry of Defence and the Marine Corps gave him due awards he so highly deserved."

The award, which was first institutionalized in 1973, is sought after by many celebrities since this would be proof of their hard work and dedication to serve the country and be a good influence to the people.

Former recipients of the Savings Day Awards are "Secret Garden" actress Ha Jiwon and singer-actor-host Lee Seunggi.

The 50^th Annual Savings Day Ceremony will be held on October 29 as it has been the tradition to hold the event every last Tuesday of October.
