Media outlet Sports Seoul recently revealed that INFINITE member Sungkyu is the nephew of Woollim Entertainment’s CEO, Lee Jong Yeop.
The report said that this was revealed by the Woollim Entertainment CEO himself after INFINITE staged their comeback showcase on May 21. This has been kept a secret until now, and Sungkyu was once quoted saying, “I became a part of INFINITE after going through auditions and various examinations to test my ability and talent. However, that doesn’t mean there was no play of connections there.”
Sungkyu or reps from Woollim Entertainment has not given an official comment to confirm or deny Sports Seoul’s report. The article, however, has since been deleted by the said media outlet now putting doubt on the report’s credibility.
In related news, if Sungkyu is indeed CEO Lee Jong Yeop’s nephew, he is not the first famous idol that is related to a company head honcho. Girls’ Generation’s Sunny is the well-known niece of SM Entertainment’s Lee Soo Man.
In the meantime, INFINITE recently released their second album “Season 2” on May 21. They boys have also wrapped their special three-day comeback showcase, which took them to three countries (Japan, Taiwan, and Korea) in three days where they had respective comeback showcases. During their final comeback showcase in Seoul, INFINITE performed “Season 2:” “Memories,” “Someone Like Me,” and their promo single, “Last Romeo.”
INFINITE’s comeback with “Season 2” is their first in 10 months, since INFINITE’s schedule last year was fully booked for their “One Great Step World Tour”. They first hinted at a possible comeback in March, during their encore performance for their “One Great Step” concert series in Seoul.
With their “Last Romeo” and “Season 2” concepts, the boys of INFINITE are showing a more mature and grown-up side, donning white suits and charismatic expressions.
From herein, INFINITE will begin promotions for “Season 2”.
