Late last year, Gummy surprised many when she decided to leave her long-time agency YG Entertainment to transfer to C-JeS Entertainment. While at the time Gummy didn't explain her move, she finally shared her reasons for transferring in a recent interview with Newsen.

Gummy said, "It has been a little over half a year since moving to a new agency. My former agency had a [particular] tendency [in the way they do things]. YG is not the type to release albums often... When good music comes out, you release an album. Artists agreed on that, and each artist had a lot of ambition to promote with good music. I also made an album at YG, which fell through about two times. After thinking about it a lot, I decided to switch agencies."

"There was trial and error from those two times that my album didn't work out, and I organized my thoughts. I moved to a new agency and started working on my mini-album, which was able to be released in six months."

"I learned a lot during my time at YG. They are like family to me even now. The number of YG artists has increased a lot, and I wanted to make my music more freely and often. Fans and the public would tell me, 'Why don't you release an album?' I was in a difficult situation and naturally moved [to another agency]."

"We did not go our separate ways on bad terms. [Yang Hyun Suk] CEO actually felt sorry towards me. He told me that if there is a place where I can get cared for more, then let's do that comfortably. I think it came about naturally."

Since Gummy's transfer to C-JeS Entertainment, she has done multiple projects such as singing OSTs for drama series and collaborating with label mates such as JYJ. She is also set to have her first comeback in four years with the song "I Loved... Have No Regrets". With this, fans would agree that Gummy made a good decision and that she still treats YG like family to her.
