On July 7, fans were shocked when Chinese media outlets reported that Chinese actress Ada Liu (Liu Yan) had announced her relationship with 2PM's Chansung at a launching event for a friend's project. According to the reports, Ada Liu first spilled that she was dating someone, and after being blasted with follow up questions from press people, eventually revealed that her boyfriend is 2PM's Chansung. It is well known that the two stars are filming a Chinese dating variety show together.
However, JYP Entertainment quickly came out with a statement denying the reports. On the same day, JYP Entertainment told E-Daily, "Upon confirming the matter with Chansung, we have verified that the two are not in a relationship. We believe it was just the spreading of a random, baseless rumor."
However, it is true that Chansung and Ada Liu are virtually linked in the Chinese dating variety program "If You Love Me", which is very similar to Korean variety show, "We Got Married".
Furthermore, it has been revealed by TVReport that the Chansung-Ada Liung dating controversy only came to be after Ada Liu uttered vague statements regarding her relationship with the idol group member. The report said that what the actress really wanted to say was that she was on a "dating" program with Chansung.
