Beastly idol group 2PM will be joining veteran singers Lee Mi Ja and Ja Young Nam for a special commemorative concert in Frankfurt Germany this October 26.
Earlier this week, an MBC special called "Lee Mi Ja's Guten Tag, Lady Dong Baek" was held on October 8 to commemorate 130 years of Korean-German diplomatic ties and 50 years of padok workers, or overseas South Koreans workers.
2PM's leader Taecyeon commented, "Lee Mi Ja and Jo Young Nam are big sunbaes. As idol representatives of K-Pop, we are grateful and honoured for this chance to perform with them both."
"Lee Mi Ja's Guten Tag, Lady Dong Baek" is a special event concerted to meditate on the hard work of 20,000 young miners and nurses who were sent to work in Germany back in the 1960's. Lee Mi Ja's "Lady Dong Baek", a persona introduced to the public in 1964, was well-loved by Koreans, especially to those overseas, as it comforted them through their homesickness and nostalgia.
2PM will take part in this commemorative event as to represent K-pop stars.
Taecyeon said, "2PM has a fan base ranging from people in their teens to people in their thirties... We will try to embody our youth and ambitions for this event. I believe we will surely be able to present the nature of K-pop."
For the concert, 2PM will be performing "Sweet Eighteen" with Lee Mi Ja. The song is Lee Mi Ja's debut single. The event, which will take place in Frankfurt, Germany on October 26 will be broadcast through MBC later in November.
