Jang Geun Suk's Camp Says Actor Is Not Involved in Tax Evasion Case

The tax probe on Jang Geun Suk's former agency does not involve actor, reps say. Following the National Tax Service's investigation on actress Song Hye Kyo for tax evasion, another actor is caught in the same tax evasion net.

Following the National Tax Service's investigation on actress Song Hye Kyo for tax evasion, another actor is caught in the same tax evasion net. Reports are now tagging Jang Geun Suk as one of the celebrities the National Tax Service is chasing for unsettled taxes, but the actor's current agency, Tree J Company, is firm in saying that the actor is not at all involved in such controversy.

On September 1, the Seoul Regional Tax International Trade Bureau got hold of documents from Jang Geun Suk's previous agency which shows his contracts and accounting data. Other than Jang Geun Suk, there are reportedly 20 more celebrities that entered into a contract with the agency being probed by the Tax Bureau. The documents show a significant difference between the actors' actual net pay and the income that was declared to the bureau.

A representative of Jang Geun Suk commented on the issue and explained why it took them a while to address the matter. In a statement with Star News, the rep said, "We haven't received anything from the National Tax Service so we found it difficult to say something. We didn't know how to react at the beginning, since all we knew then was that 'H' Entertainment (Jang Geun Suk's previous agency) is being investigated [for tax evasion]."

Tree J Company further commented that they are willing to cooperate with the authorities with regard to the issue. Moreover, Tree J said that they will deal with matters in a legal manner.

A few weeks ago, Song Hye Kyo was probed by the National Tax Service for tax evasion. However, it was clarified that the actress did not have any direct hand at declaring her income and assets since it was her former accountant that settled such matters for her. Nevertheless, Song Hye Kyo publicly apologized for the issue and promised to be a better citizen.
