2AM's Jokwon: "I Braved Through The Obstacles Because I Wanted to Provide My Family With a Better Life"

2AM member Jokwon may be having the time of his life right now as he enjoys as successful career as a singer and actor. However, the star has continued to keep his feet grounded and reflect on the tough road towards becoming an idol.

Jokwon guest starred on the September 13 broadcast of MBC's "Human Documentary" episode. On the show, the 2AM singer talked about the struggles he and his family went through in the past which inspired him to do his best at succeeding in the industry.

Jokwon is known as one of the artist that spent the longest years as a trainee. "I was about 14 or 15 years old when I made the decision to help the family and succeed," Jokwon share. He admitted that getting to where he is right now is not easy, but the difficulty encouraged him to push harder.

"I was still young when I dreamed of becoming rich; I wanted to earn a lot, buy a nice house for my parents, and just get out of such a tiny space." Because of his family's financial struggles, he became all the more driven to succeed and provide his family with a better life.

Jokwon's mother was also featured on the show, during which he shared that while he knew well that his son was very passionate about singing at such a tender age, it was unfortunate that she could not support him in his endeavors because of financial constraints. For this, Jokwon's mother felt very apologetic towards his son.

"While I was working, Jokwon was already preparing [for his auditions]. When he passed the third audition, he asked me accompany him for his final audition. At first, I was very nervous. I thought, 'If he gets through this how am I supposed to provide for his support?" Jokwon's mother emotionally narrated the early period of Jokwon's career.

Jokwon is now one of the most well-known and iconic idols in the industry. His story comes to us as a reminder not to give up on our dreams and aspirations despite the difficult road.
