Korean superstar BoA is in hot waters after she was reported for illegally developing land.

Back in February 2004 and August 2009, BoA, together with her father, purchased a total of 4600 square metres of land located in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. In 2005, they established a management office estimated at 66 square meters and converted 99 square meters of farm land into residential properties. BoA's father has been occupying the said area for the past 7-8 years.

However, the purchase and conversion of land is deemed illegal since it was bought as part of Korea's Green Belt. The Green Belt policy provides that largely undeveloped lands should be retained as such for it to be a natural habitat for wildlife. Thus, BoA's utilization of that parcel of land is considered illegal under the said policy. The management office, as provided by the Green Belt policy, can only be used to store agricultural tools or to be temporarily occupied.

Reports were filed with the city of Namyangju, stating that the land was illegally developed under BoA's management. After an investigation on the case it was discovered that made ten violations. An official report has been filed to the police.

As a result of this, BoA could be facing 50 million KRW won in fines.

As for BoA's father, he has been accused of being an accomplice to BoA's violations of utilizing the management office and storage with the use of a rain sheltering installation device and consequently making both buildings his residence. What's more, he violated the Green Belt policy on agriculture by converting 600 square meters of forest land into a huge garden. He also violated the policy by building a large pavilion fronting his residence.

The city of Namyangju is continuing to conduct investigations on this case. SM Entertainment or BoA's representatives, however, have not commented on the issue.
