The nation's little sister, IU has found herself caught up in a plagiarism controversy again after her song "The Red Shoes" has been blamed of having a similar music to Nekta's 2009 song, "Here's Us."
However, LOEN Entertainment, IU's agency, sturdily repudiated the said accusation, comparing the two songs.
The agency stated, "After talking to the songwriter, Lee Min-soo, and getting opinions from outside music experts, we have concluded that the melody in some parts of the two songs may sound similar, but the two songs' chord progressions are completely different."
LOEN also disagreed to the rumours that the said issue would make IU to finish her promotions for her new album or even cancel her concert this coming November.
Additionally, Bang Shi-hyuk , the renowned producer and songwriter uploaded posts on his Twitter account on Saturday taking the responsibnility in the accusations of plagiarism.
"In music, there are two concepts called genre and cliche", he posted. "If 'The Red Shoes' is considered plagiarism, most other existing swing jazz songs will have to be accused of plagiarism, too".
The song "The Red Shoes" is from IU's third full-length album, "Modern Times," which was released in October, making it a year and a half since her previous Korean album.
