The girls of EXID were present on the April 28 broadcast of SBS' radio show "Kim Chang Ryul's Old School". In the interview, Solji talked about her much-applauded win on the singing competition "Mask King".
"I never imagined landing in first place," Solji answered when asked if she expected she would win. "I was nervous because I had no idea who was participating in the show," Solji said, referring to the fact that the singers who joined the show had to hide their identities so as to eliminate any form of bias in judging.
Solji revealed that she didn't have any particular recipe for success. "I believe I just lucky," EXID's lead vocalist said, "Moreover, I think that I appeared very sad-looking. I sang ['Maria'] while putting myself in [the song's] situation. I think [the emotion] was felt by the viewers." Solji's performance moved the audience so much due to her emotional and passionate rendition.
The DJ further asked if Solji thinks about love when she sings, to which the singer replied, "I think about my [personal] experiences when I sing. When I first take on a song, I look at the lyrics, reflect on it, and then sing it out.
Solji then suggested that while she wants to be a DJ, she also thinks it would be nice if radio DJ also sang songs instead of just playing them. Could Solji be our first ever legit singing DJ then?
Congratulations on your "Mask King" win, Solji. Keep on singing beautifully.
