AOA Seolhyun recently expressed her frustration at being called the 2nd Suzy by netizens. At the May 12 press conference for Seolhyun's upcoming KBS drama "Orange Marmalade", the idol actress said that while she's thankful for the comparison with Suzy she's hoping people will acknowledge her for who she is.
At the press event, Seolhyun was asked to share her thoughts on being labeled the "2nd Suzy". Seolhyun has been receiving such compliments due to her infectiously youthful charms, likable personality, and transition into acting. In response to this, Seolhyun said, "It does seem that people have taken the liking of calling me the second Suzy, and I'm thankful for that. But instead of describing me in such a manner, I would prefer it if people saw me as I am." Although Seolhyun and Suzy may have their similarities, both stars are unique in their own ways.
It's quite a coincidence actually since Seolhyun plays Lee Min Ho's adoptive younger sister in "Gangnam Blues", and we all know that Lee Min Ho is Suzy's real-like beau.
Seolhyun takes on her first leading role in the fantasy drama series "Orange Marmalade", and she's both excited and nervous about it. Seolhyun plays Baek Ma-ri, an introverted teenage girl who's actually concealing her vampire identity. After having been driven away from various neighborhoods, Baek Ma-ri quietly moves into the city. But before things could take a turn for the better, Baek Ma-ri accidentally bites Jung Jae-min (played by Yeo Jin Goo) who is the most popular boy in school.
"Since it's my first lead role, I feel pressured but I understand that I have a sense of responsibility now. I see this as an opportunity that I don't want to miss out on," Seolhyun said. She added, "Even before I began filming for the drama, I was already receiving negative comments. I'm keeping a hardworking mindset now so that people will recognize me [and appreciate what I can do.]"
