Crayon Pop is once again embroiled in a nasty plagiarism controversy after releasing the concept photos for their upcoming track "Kkurismas".
The Christmas concept, wherein the girls are dressed in cute Christmas tree costumes, was again likened to Momoiro Clover Z's 2012 image. The similarities were pointed out by a netizen who posted "Crayon Pop Plagiarizes Concept Again." The post contains teaser photos of Crayon Pop's new concept aligned with a photo of Momoka Ariyasu from Momoira Clover Z wearing a similar costume in a concert last year. The post has since then been making its rounds around the internet.
However, fans of Crayon Pop are coming in to support the group saying that such costumes are highly common especially now that it's Christmastime.
Back in August, rookie girl group Crayon Pop, who shot to fame with their "5-cycle engine" dancing in "Bar Bar Bar", was accused of copying outfits and concepts popularized by Japanese girl group Momoiro Clover Z.
Chrome Entertainment, Crayon Pop's agency, explained that the group's costumes are influenced by DJ DOC. They also said that crayon pop's cute and colourful outfits are commonly used by a lot of pop artists in the industry.
What do you guys think? Is there really a rip off involved?
