On January 16, a new program from Mnet called, “Idol Battle – 2014 I’m a Star Too,” was aired its first broadcast.
For the next four weeks, “Idol Battle” will air every Thursday. In every episode of the show, two rookie idol groups will be battling it out for a cash prize to be donated to charity they have chosen.
“Idol Battle” staff explained the purpose of the program by saying, “It’s time to properly see the charms of the rookie idols who will lead the next generation of K-Pop. There are many groups debuting every year, and not all of them are able to show off their charms to viewers. ‘Idol Battle’ will be the chance for rookie idol groups with potential to show off their true talent and charm to the fullest, something they may have not been able to do through their performances alone.”
The host of the program will be no other than g.o.d member, Danny Ahn which had featured on the first episode were idol groups, Big Star and Boys Republic which went head-to-head in a series of missions that had been for 12 hours. Both groups consists of five members. Hit maker Brave Brothers‘ ambitious project Big Star’s last release was a digital single, “Stand Alone,” while Boys Republic released their music video for “L.I.U” in December as well. The boys had to go against each other with tasks that tested their strength, self-promotion skills and ability to charm fans. But Big Star had won with the score of 3-2.
After Big Star and Boys Republic, fans will be able to catch A-Prince and M.Pire, C-Clown and MYNAME, Hello Venus and 2EYES, face off in action-packed battles.
Get to watch the rookies every Thursday at 7:30 KST.
