Celebrities have been always known for being wealthy, given the fact that other that idols they are producers, endorsers, models and owners. With a wide array of stars, who do you think is the wealthiest when it comes to stock investments?
Surprisingly according to the market researcher Chaebul.com, YG Entertainment head, Yang Hyun Suk holds the record of the wealthiest celeb in stocks. The CEO has reached 197.3 billion KRW (US$182.1 million) as of September 16. Singer and rapper, Psy may have contributed to this wealth with the release of the phenomenon "Gangnam Style" which has been viewed more than 1.77 billion times since its release in July 2012.
Meanwhile, SM Entertainment chairman, Lee Soo-Man ranked second with shares of 157.6 billion KRW, followed by KeyEast Entertainment's Bae Yong-joon, an actor who is from the hit drama, "Winter Sonata" with 30.6 billion KRW, a 20.3% higher than his stock worth at the beginning of the year.
While, Park Jin Young, JYP Entertainment's founder has 7.2 billion KRW in shares and was followed by "A Gentleman's Dignity" actor, Jang Dong Gun with 3.7 billion KRW.
Whereas, comedians, Shin Dong Yup and Kang Ho Dong with 2.09 billion KRW who are followed by fellow comedians Kim Byung Man and Lee Soo Geun also had more than 1 billion KRW in stock.
It is said that YG Entertainment saw its operating profit jump 56.8% in the first half of 2013 from a year earlier, while that of SM Entertainment plunged 62.9% over the said period.
