B.A.P’s Bang Yong Guk is up for a Shorty Award for his philanthropic efforts.
Bang Yong Guk is now a finalist for the Social Media’s Best Activism category for his continuous contribution to various charities, organizations, and causes with the use of social media platforms.
The Shorty Awards wrote, “Bang Yong Guk has shown interest in activism even before his 2011 debut through donating to UNICEF, World Vision and Save the Children. He creates awareness through his interviews, music and SNS, using his 530K Twitter followers and B.A.P’s Facebook, which is close to 1 million likes… BABY has, through Bang’s works, been inspired to donate money and time in the same manner. Fans now send their certificates to show B.A.P the charity activities they’ve done and B.A.P encourages them via SNS to continue bettering the world.”
Other nominees include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Adam Lambert, Demi Lovato, and other celebrities and organizations.
The winners of the Shorty Awards will be determined by the Real-Time Academy of Short Form Arts and Sciences. The official awarding ceremony will be held on April 7, and will be broadcast live on the internet.
