Following reports about former KARA member Jiyoung possibly returning to the limelight with an acting career in Japan, Jiyoung's father finally made a comment on the issue to confirm the reports. Jiyoung's father said that while it is true that Jiyoung and the CEO of a Japanese agency already met up and discussed in London, nothing has been finalized yet.
In an interview, Mr. Kang told E Daily, "The Japanese entertainment reps and Jiyoung simply had a meal together in London after running into each other there... Following completion of her studies, she will think about [whether she wants to make her debut as an actress in Japan].. Please just accept it as a meeting and nothing more. [Jiyoung] has not signed a contract yet."
On June 10, Japanese magazine "Women Weekly" said, "Kara's Kang Ji Young left to London last April after leaving the group. She is currently discussing with the Japanese agency, 'Sweet Power' about contracting with them."
Sweet Power is a one of the most-renowned companies in Japan as they specialize in managing top Japanese actresses including Meisa Kuroki and Maki Horikita and more. Korean actress Kim Tae Hee also has promotional contract with them.
Japanese "Women Weekly" added, "Before this, Kang Ji Young dreamed of being an actress and the president of 'Sweet Power' flew all the way to London to meet her so that he can give her advice about her future plans. It's a possibility that Kang Ji Young will return to her fans as an actress."
Jiyoung is currently in London pursuing studies in language after her contract with DSP Media expired in April. She is the second KARA member to exit the group, following Nicole.
In addition to this, Jiyoung will reportedly head out to the U.S once she completes her studies in London.
