According to the CEO of YG Entertainment, the agency is set to make way for expansion in the Chinese market, knowing that YG has got huge investments from LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) and Chinese IT giant Tencent and will continue to conquer the country.
Yang Hyun Suk mentioned this in a recent interview from news outlet OSEN, saying ,It’s impossible to predict how big the Chinese entertainment market will get. The animation ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ comes to mind. Like the way the corn becomes popcorn and rains from the sky, Chinese entertainment will wield a powerful influence globally. This is the reasoning and motivation behind YG entering the market."
With YG Entertainment's concentration on China, they have held the "2014 1st YG Audition in Greater China. in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, making this their first global auditions in the country, proving their desire to expand.
On the latest broadcast of the SBS talk show, "Healing Camp," Yang Hyun Suk stated that the keyword to his success is "thrill", saying no amount of money can buy happiness. When asked what the keyword can he place in YG’s entrance into the Chinese market, Yang Hyun Suk’s answer was "thrill" also. He then mentioned, "No matter what you do, it has to be fun for you to feel the thrill and consequently for you to give it your all."
