Seems like the competition for raising a new breed of idol groups is just starting to heat up. SM Entertainment has already advanced itself with their introduction of 13-member boy group EXO. Rival companies YG and JYP Entertainment are also in the process of debuting their own mega boy groups.
With EXO's comeback scheduled this November, YG and JYP seem to be catching up by training up and coming idols for success. The idea is a long time coming considering that it's already been 7 years since YGE gave birth to Big Bang and JYP to 2PM.
Later this year, YG is said to be debuting the winning team to the recently concluded talent show "WIN: Who is Next". The group, which will now be known as WINNER, has already gained popularity because of the show. Their official date of debut will be around December or January.
As for JYP Entertainment, they are also scheduled to launch a new 7-member boy group next year. The members of the said group were already seen in the September 13 episode of "WIN", where they battled it out with the YG trainees. The group is also culturally diverse, having members from different countries such as America, Canada, and Hong Kong, and were selected through a global audition process. The group is already in the studio working on their new music for a while now. However, an official name for the group has yet to be decided.
The new idols are henceforth dubbed the "Post Big Bang" and "Post 2PM" groups. Nevertheless, the two giant companies promise fresh, new concepts and fans are excited.
