"The Producers" Meets Negative Feedback Despite High Ratings

Could this really be Kim Soo Hyun's first unsuccessful drama series ever? The star-studded KBS drama series "The Producers" premiered with a high rating according to Korean news outlet Money Today.

The star-studded KBS drama series "The Producers" premiered with a high rating according to Korean news outlet Money Today. For its May 15^th episode, "The Producers" saw a rating of 10.1 percent for its first run. This comes as quite the surprise considering the amount of negative feedback the drama has received due to the fact that its incorporates KBS programs "Music Bank" and "1 Day, 2 Nights" into the drama, which is suspected to deviate from the drama's intended narrative.

"The Producers" started with a very unique premise: unlike most other drama series, it uses a documentary-like filming style and injects footages of variety shows in between storylines.  

Overall, "The Producers" came only second to "Laws of the Jungle" in terms of rating. Nevertheless, it wasn't able to avoid negative feedback on its first day on air. One comment suggests that this could be Kim Soo Hyun's first unsuccessful drama series, citing that the drama is "quite a bore".

"The Producers" was written by Park Ji Eun, the genius responsible for the worldwide phenomenon that is "You Who Came From The Stars" which also stars Kim Soo Hyun as the main lead. Park Ji Eun and Kim Soo Hyun's first project together went on to become one of the biggest Korean drama series to ever hit TV screens in Korea and abroad, and fans had massive expectations for "The Producers".  

This Kim Soo Hyun starrer centers on the lives of producers working for KBS. It show their everyday hectic struggle involving filming and editing shows, attending heated meetings, and dealing with (sometimes ill-tempered) celebrities. The drama will also feature cameo appearances from different celebrities who will portray themselves.
