Months have passed by since Kris and Luhan filed their individual contract nullification suits against SM Entertainment and yet the parties involved have not yet come to a resolution.
Since November last year, Kris, Luhan, and SM Entertainment have entered into court-referred mediations to arrive at a settlement before they go to trial. This is the court's way of having the parties involved resolve matters in an amicable and justiciable manner. The previous court-referred mediation have not yielded any results as all parties failed to come to a compromise.
In the recent turn of events, the court has appointed an arbitrator to force the parties to cooperate with the mediation procedure. This way, the parties involved can arrive at a settlement so that the judge can give the final verdict. As of May 18th, the Seoul Central District court directed the official arbitrator to force the parties to properly participate in the proceedings involving Kris' and Luhan's contract nullification cases. Should the opposing party reject the settlement offer, the courts will then force a reconciliatory decision through the compulsory mediation system. Otherwise stated, if the parties don't settle the matter themselves, the court will have no other choice but to settle it for them. Kris and Luhan's camp has 2 weeks to file for their opposition. Failure to comply will automatically have the compulsory mediation serve as the final settling judgment.
In an interview with the press, Kris' and Luhan's lawyers said, "We are currently reviewing the compulsory settlement that was granted to us by the justice department. Other than that, we can no longer give further details as to the case."
SM Entertainment, however, has not given any comment on the matter.
