The leader of the popular group, 2NE1, CL is again featured in a magazine, however; it is just not an ordinary magazine.
K-pop idols are not surprisingly uncommon to be featured in Korean "W," but CL is featured in 'W', the American fashion magazine. It's not only that, "W" magazine made her as one of the 6 international pop stars with improbable cultural importance. The others on the list with the title, "6 Un-American Idols'"are Gaby Amarantos of Brazil, Sirusho of Armenia, Jelena Karleusa of Serbia, Haifa Wehbe of Lebanon, and Googoosha of Uzbekistan.
The American magazine, "W" wrote,
The front woman of 2NE1, the undisputed queens of the wildly popular Korean subgenre known as K-Pop, CL (aka Chaelin Lee) launched her solo career this summer with the single "The Baddest Female." The lithe and spunky ballerina-meets-Fly Girl careers in and out of English and Korean, rapping and singing about gold chains, B-boys, and private planes. The accompanying video racked up around 1 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours, but despite that success, CL vows not to Beyoncé her bandmates to the curb, citing personal exploration as the impetus for stepping out on her own. Where have we heard that one before?
It surely is another prestige for 2NE1 and their agency YG Entertainment, making them show that they have been one of the keys in the spread of Hallyu in America.
