The singer's recent Instagram posts sparked, yet again, the rumours about her being possessed by a spirit, leading netizens to think that the she may be mentally ill.

On November 27, Ahreum uploaded a seemingly post-Halloween photo of her and her dog. In the photo, Ahreum painted her face into what looked like an image of a skull. She then left a message, "I'm the personification of the "Lord's Sun". I've known what ghosts were since junior high school. I've even used the bunshinsaba spell to raise a friend from the dead. I'm revealing the truth about the rumours of spirit possession that have floated around me. The son my aunt couldn't have came to me. That's it. When we die, we'll become ghosts as well. Ghosts are a precious superstition!"

She continued, "Why are you afraid when we'll become ghosts when we die. Life is so funny. Even if we spend our days laughing and holding hands, life would still be too short. If I'm not going to depressed or cool, I might as well be dead right now. But I'm a person and I've had my own share of pain. But I'm still 20. I'm at an age where I should be smiling happily. I think I became an optimist quickly."

Ahreum's posts caught the attention of a lot of netizens and even caused an alarm among fans. Because of this, Ahreum' s mother came forward and spoke to news outlet Osen to given an update on her daughter's health condition.

"Ahreum is living her life healthily. She is practicing, listening to music, and cooking. She's doing okay relaxing at home. "

As for Ahreum's Instagram behaviour, her mother commented, "I've seen the photos and the messages. But I don't believe she's mentally ill. Ahreum always had a peculiar way about her even when she was young. Her health is fine. I understand very well what's causing people to worry. I will make necessary measures seeing that posting messages and photos isn't doing her much good. Nevertheless, this doesn't mean Ahreum is mentally ill."
