After much anticipation, EXO has officially broken the record of having 1 million record copies sold for their first full-length album “XOXO”. No other artist has been able to achieve this feat in 12 years.
“XOXO” has sold at total of 1,007,577 copies as of December 27, which includes 471,570 copies of the original album and 536,007 copies of the repackaged version.

No other artist has been able to pull of such staggering figures since Kim Gun Mo and g.o.d in 2001. Kim Gun Mo’s 7th album and g.o.d’s 4th album raked in more than 1 million copies sold. Album sales slowly decreased in the coming years especially after the launch of online music markets in 2005. Despite the rave in digital downloads, both legal and illegal, EXO managed to accomplish more than what they could have hoped for.
With regard to this, SM Entertainment has issued a statement saying, “If you include the 430,000 copies sold of EXO’s special winter album ‘Miracles in December’, released this month, EXO’s total album sales reached a remarkable 1,440,000 copies. Nominally and virtually, EXO is showing an influence suitable for kings.”
EXO didn’t forget to thank fans for the wonderful Christmas present they have given. “We sincerely thank everyone who helped us become a million seller. 2013 is indeed an unforgettable year for us and we received a lot of love from so many people and we received great results. In order to return the love, we promise to work hard in the coming years.”

Congratulations, EXO!
