2NE1's "Come Back Home" music video featured not just intricate computer graphics, but also a rich storyline that contributes to its massive appeal worldwide.
Yang Hyun Suk spoke to Star News to explain the futuristic concept behind the "Come Back Home" music video. "The content of the music video may be hard to grasp at first glance. But when you think about the idea that happiness is the most important thing in the world, you will understand the concept more clearly. The music video is set in a not-so-distant future in which people enjoy living a fantasy than they do the real world."
"In today's scenario, people prefer getting connected through their phones and getting attached to games than interacting in person. I believe this is a direct portrayal of how people enjoy fantasy worlds. Even when you're at a playground, kids are on their phones. We imagined that as time passes, this phenomenon got worse, and people crave this fantasy world even more."
"In the video, Sandara is heartbroken because the man she loves prefers to live in a fantasy. So Sandara, along with CL, Bom, and Minzy, enter the fantasy world as warriors and they destroy it, to impress the importance of reality and humanity."
In addition, Yang Hyun Suk also answered the question as to why there was little dancing involved in the music video. "Up until now, 2NE1 usually shot music videos with dance. This time, we wanted to do something different. So we tried to invest more on CG production, on which we spent 467,000 USD."
