Since they are already eight years in the running as Korea's representative girl group, Girls' Generation expressed that they want to have that staying power as Shinhwa.
During Girls' Generation's guesting on the March 11 broadcast of MBC FM4U's "Two O'clock Date", DJ Park Kyung Lim asked the members how long they think they would last a group.
"It's already been eight years since we started out as Girls' Generation. We get asked a lot if we can project how long the group would last. Actually, we think about it a lot. It's been our goal ever since to become a long-lasting group like Shinhwa," Hyoyeon said.
"I checked recently, and found out that Shinhwa will be celebrating its 16th anniversary. For now, we hope to exist for that long, and we believe it's possible."
Sooyoung also chimed in and said, "Shinhwa doesn't release an album every year. Even when they don't have a new album, they hold concerts for their fans, and I like that. We want to produce albums as much as we can, but when things get busy,we would like to at least focus our attentions on having concerts instead."
