Due to the incident that happened last April 16, the entertainment industry postpones a lot of programs to give respect and concentrate on the updates.
All music shows such as Thursday’s (April 17 KST) music show from Mnet, “M!Countdown,” Friday’s (April 18 KST) music show from KBS, “Music Bank,” Saturday’s (April 19 KST) music show from MBC, “Music Core,” and Sunday’s (April 20 KST) music show from SBS, “Inkigayo,” have all been cancelled.
With the cancellation of 'M! Countdown', Mnet's 'M! Countdown Begins', and 'Block B's 5 minutes Before Chaos' have also been postponed.
While, tvN also postponed their sitcom 'Potato Star', and might cancel 'SNL Korea', and 'Comedy Big League'.
SBS has also announced that they will be airing a 2 hour news special instead of 'Oh My Baby' and 'One Night of TV Entertainment'. They also have decided to put a hold on their dramas like 'Three Days'.
Meanwhile, several shows from MBC such as 'Real Story Noon', 'Radio Star', 'Showtime Burning the B2ST' and its dramas such as 'Cunning Single Lady' have also been canceled. 'Cunning Single Lady' will air two episodes on Thursday, the 17th, as a slot opened up having 'Stargazing' being cancelled.
KBS will also cancel their broadcast of 'Golden Cross', 'Pitapat Romance', 'Happy Together', which is and addition to 'Music Bank'.
With the broadcast stations cancelling programs, the movie industry is also postponing much of their planned schedules. Various of premieres, screenings, and interviews have already been canceled or delayed.
To be specific, Block B had planned to hold their comeback stage for “Jackpot” on “M!Countdown” today, however was cancelled. EXO’s (EXO-K) first music show comeback stage for “Overdose” via “Music Bank,” which has also been cancelled.
The tragic incident happened on April 16, wherein a ferry traveling from Incheon to Jeju Island, carrying 475 passengers sank off the coast of Jindo. More than 300 of the passengers were students from Danwon High School in Ansan, taking a school trip. As of 11AM on April 17, nine passengers are reported dead with 179 rescued and 287 still missing.
