In his previous statements, it's always appeared as though ex-Super Junior member, Hangeng, didn't separate from the group in good terms.

During a September 28 interview, which was aired on Beijing's "Music Billboard Chart" TV program, Hangeng spoke about even more surprising facts during his time with Super Junior, even went as far as to reveal that he once thought about suicide because of the immense pressure in his work.

Hangeng back to basics

Hangeng explained on the interview that the reason why he wanted to pursue a career in showbiz is because he wanted to earn enough money to provide for his parents. "I wanted to let my parents live comfortably", the 29 year-old singer said.

However, debuting in Korea caused a lot of struggles for Hangeng especially because of the fact that he wasn't a Korean native.

"At the time, the laws pertaining to foreigners working as artists in Korea haven't been perfected yet. I was one of the firsts, so there were a lot of restrictions regarding what I was allowed to do. I couldn't participate in product advertisements and I had to step down on other activities. I was left to stay at the dorms on my own," Hangeng shared.

He further narrated, "I felt like I had lost all hope. I cried during our performance of 'Twins'."

Hangeng also mentioned that his first ever paycheck only amounted to 4000 yuan, which is equivalent to 650 US dollars these days.

"I had to really save money because it was heart breaking to see my mother struggle."

Hangeng on Super Junior M

According to him, he felt like he became a rookie again when Super Junior M was introduced to the Chinese audience in 2008.

However, he said that he felt comfortable being back in China and that he was paid better this time around. "I earned over a million yuan ($160,000). We performed on a lot of concerts and I was finally able to do advertisements."

The only setback to Hangeng's time with Super Junior M was that he also became the group's official translator. "None of the Korean members could speak Chinese. It gave me a lot of headache."

Hangeng on his sour relationship with SM Entertainment

Furthermore, he shared his grievances involving SM Entertainment.

"I wanted to be an actor," Hangeng explained, "but they wouldn't allow me even when they already gave permission for other members to act. They didn't even give me advertising gigs."

All these restrictions, added to his feeling of being left out, caused him to explode and eventually leave the group.

That's when Hangeng began to entertain thoughts of suicide.

"I thought I was mentally ill back then. I thought about suicide. I need to be happy."

He also revealed that he was almost ready to file a lawsuit against SM Entertainment.

"I secretly gave all of my bank information and medical records to a Korean law office without telling the agency. I did this in preparation to sue them," Hangeng said, "I contacted my manger everyday so that the agency wouldn't be suspicious."

He explained that he sneaked into the law office every time he had hours to spare after his band activities.

The latest interview caused a stir among Super Junior fans, commenting that Hangeng needs to be more careful with his statements and that he seems impolite towards his former co-members.

Hangeng officially disbanded from Super Junior in 2009 after filing an injunction against SM Entertainment on the basis of unreasonable contract terms.
