In the May 13 broadcast of Mnet Star Documentary "4 Things Show: Outrageous Interview", BTS leader Rap Monster shared his honest thoughts on being an idol and his love for hip hop music.

Rap Monster, who first started out performing in the underground rap scene prior to his debut as an idol, said, "[Being an idol] is still very different from the world I knew. It's not easy."

"I always think that I have to keep it real (and continue to do hip hop) but there are times when I can't do that. However, it's nice that I can perform on stage and make even more people listen to my music," he shared.

One of the things he had to give up upon leaving the underground rap  scene to proceed to his being an active idol is his musical freedom. When he entered the idol business, he is expected to become conscious about image and he won't have a lot of room to select the music he prefers to perform. He also had to face some criticism when he made his transition from underground rapper to idol. "There's a part (to their criticism) that is somehow correct but there is also a part that is biased," Rap Monster said.

However, Rap Monster stood strong against all the criticism and tried his best to hit his goal. "The truth is there's only one reason that I joined BTS. It's my voice. I want to have my voice heard by as much people as possible."

In this particular episode of "4 Things Show: Outrageous Interview", BTS was seen recording with Japanese rapper KM-MARKIT as part of their preparations for their Japanese debut this June.

KM-MARKIT commented on the BTS leader, saying, "Rap Monster is an idol but he's a real rapper. He has his own thoughts and opinions and personally writes his lyrics. He personally expresses them. That's hip-hop."

Keep up the awesome work, Rap Monster!
