After EXO member Kris filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment last week to nullify his contract with the agency, many theories have come out regarding Kris' possible next move after the lawsuit. While fans are hoping that he will stay with EXO after the lawsuit battle, it cannot be denied that it's possible Kris might pursue a career in China.
On May 21, China's media outlet Sina revealed that Chinese actress and film director Xu Jinglei made a post on her Weibo account that might be addressing Kris. The post read, "How can he be so handsome? I want to post a picture of him but I have to hide [him]." With this, fans have begun to speculate that Xu Jinglei may be in discussions with Kris for a film project.
In addition, Sina wrote that an insider confirmed that Xu Jinglei was in fact communicating with Kris in the past, although it wasn't mentioned what the two were really discussing about.
Sina continued "This movie's casting is being carried out in secret... The people involved are being very secretive about it."
Amidst the rumours, reports, and speculations, Kris himself has not made an official statement to address any of these. SM Entertainment recently announced that they still have not heard anything from Kris and that his participation in EXO's "The Lost Planet" concert now seems highly unlikely. Other industry insiders also said that they have not been able to contact Kris for comments. And insider suggested, "Since his lawsuit with SM Entertainment is still going on, it is difficult to predict what his future plans would be like."
Last week, Kris surprised everyone with his lawsuit against SM Entertainment, seeking to void his contract with the agency. Many are associating his lawsuit with that of Super Junior's Hangeng. In relation to this, some are speculating that Kris may want to pursue a career back China although separate reports also say that Kris may be suffering from a suspected heart problem.
