EXO's Kai Expresses Desire To Learn Ballet Again in The Celebrity

EXO's Kai expresses his love for dance and music and his desire to re-learn ballet in The Celebrity magazine.

On May 27, lifestyle magazine The Celebrity gave fans a sneak peek into one of the feature articles on their upcoming June issue. The magazine's featured star is no less than EXO's chief dancer Kai. Kai, who's best known for his sharp and powerful dancing, showed a more subtle side to his art as he transformed into a skilled danseur (male ballet dancer).

In the interview, Kai shared that as a young kid he was inspired to learn ballet after watching "The Nutcracker". Years later, EXO's lead dancer has made hip hop dance and the like his forte, but expressed his desire to return to ballet again. He explained, "After recently watching the movie 'Billy Elliot', I wanted to start doing ballet again. I first learned ballet during my childhood."

Korea National Ballet Company's lead male ballet dancer, Lee Jae Woo, appeared as Kai's mentor to guide him in his attempt to learn ballet once again. Lee Jae Woo completed Kai, saying, "I heard that he learned ballet when he was still young, but I was surprised to see that his [posture] is still there. Because he has a background in ballet, I think that's why he is able to quickly understand dances and express his emotions through dance better than most people."

In relation to this, Kai confessed, "In situation where I can't dance, I listen to various genres of music and imagine myself dancing. I dreamed of becoming a singer because of my love for dancing. Now, it's not only dancing that has become my life, but also singing and music as well."
