The payment issue with the production company for KBS 2TV's 'Generation of Youth,' Ray&mo, and the cast members is still in continuation though it has been said that this will be settled by the end of May, but it is now June and the actors has not received their full payment though the drama ended back on April 3.
A representative of actor 'A', who wanted to be unknown, stated, "Before the completion of 'Generation of Youth,' it was decided that the entire appearance fee would be paid by the end of April. However, the payment did not arrive on the promised date. The production company said that things did not work out the way they had wished, so they promised they would make the payment by the end of May, but they still have not kept their promise even now.
At one point, we considered taking legal action, but the production company said they would make the payment and asked us to wait a bit longer, so we put it off temporarily. However, they still did not pay a portion of the appearance fee, so we are very frustrated."
The representative of some of the other actors backed up these statements, adding, "The production company has not been able to deal with the problem of payments for not only most of the main and supporting actors but also the minor actors."
They stated that the production company gave a promise to pay them with the profit from overseas promotion of the drama, however they have failed to mention when and how they would be making the payments. While, some actors are in better conditions because they acted in other productions after 'Generation of Youth,' but some of the actors had a difficult time because they still have not got their pay for their past work.
Sources have revealed that the production company has told its actors and staff that they have been trying their best through their promotional events in Japan and to make enough money to pay pending actors. It has been stated that some actors and staff have been receiving small payments and have received about 80% of their pay, but others have yet to receive anything.
