On October 7, JYJ's Junsu was given the "Popular Star Award" for the 4th consecutive year in the 19th Korean Musical Awards was held at Kyunghee University's Peace Hall.
Three others: Cho Seung Woo, Ock Joo Hyun, and Kim So Hyun were also awarded the Popular Star Award together with Junsu. The JYJ singer then stated, "I was grateful to have won the Best Actor Award last year, and I'm delighted to be able to participate in this year's ceremony. I had rushed over from Japan, and am very happy to be able to win a trophy this year. This is an award that was given to me by the audience, so it holds an even greater meaning. I hope that many will come and support the musical 'December' which will play this December."
In line with Junsu's win, C-JES Entertainment stated, "As someone who won the Best Actor award last year, he is really honoured to be able to participate at this year's ceremony. His 4th consecutive win of the Popular Star Award is also testament to his standing in the musical world."
Junsu made his musical debut in the play, "Mozart" and became the first musical actor selling 45,000 tickets in all 15 shows at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.
The next year, the musical, "Tears of Heaven" selling 32,000 tickets and the encore of "Mozart" with 23,000 tickets in February and June making it all sold out.
In 2012 for the play, "Elisabeth," wherein Junsu was the lead role, sold 55,000 tickets in a mere 30 minutes after it had opened for sales, making it again a full house. Because of that, Junsu became a musical actor who was acknowledged by the audience, and became one of the best in acting and a box office king. Junsu also won the Best Actor Award at the 18th Korean Musical Awards for his performance in "Elisabeth."
