SM Entertainment latest rookie girl group Red Velvet officially made their debut today with the release of their music video, "Happiness". However, despite being at the early stage of their debut, the four-member girl gang is already facing heaps of controversies, starting with their conflict with indie group Red Velvet who protested the use of the same name. Now, Red Velvet is taking a smack as "Happiness" was found out to contain controversial images on the music video.
Shortly after the MV's release, Japanese media reported that there had been notices of images showing reference to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The 9/11 tragedy where two airplanes struck the World Trade Center in New York, USA was also featured in the MV. SM Entertainment responded to the reports, saying, "After questioning the director, we found that he simply used a collage source for the images, and there was no intention behind it."
The rep continued, "As SM wasn't able to catch it before, we will remove the material that caused the misunderstanding as soon as possible. We will make sure not to let this kind of thing happen in the future."
What do you guys make of these "hidden" images on the "Happiness" MV?
