"All-Kill" status holder IU recently shared the biggest influence that inspired her to become a singer.
IU guested on the October 16 episode of MBC FM4U's "Park Kyung Lim's 2 O'clock Date" wherein she picked Gummy's "We Should've Been Friends" as the song inspired her to become the singer that she is today.
"I sang this song at a school festival when I was in middle school," "The Red Shoes" singer shared, "I thought to myself, 'I should become a singer,' as I sang the song. It felt great because I wasn't nervous at all about singing in front of so many people."
She even went on to reveal that "After the performance, the seniors [at school] got angry at me. They didn't like the fact that an underclassman performed on such a big stage."
IU expressed that it was truly because of Gummy that she was able to fulfil her dream to become a singer. "When I went to audition at the label I'm signed under right now, Gummy unnie was there. I was surprised because I prepared 'We Should've Been Friends' as my audition piece. She listened to me sing and said they should pick me."
IU was very thankful to Gummy and revealed that even up to now Gummy still helps her a lot.
