G-Dragon Say He Overcame Slump Period With Big Bang Members As Inspiration

G-Dragon reflects on the fact that teamwork will also bring the best out of each other and the group as a whole.

During the press conference for their "MADE" album, Big Bang's G-Dragon opened up about the time he went through a period of slump.

"There are times when, even when I made a lot of effort, the music still wouldn't turn out well," G-Dragon said about the time he went through a slump in his music. "Back then, I would try at least two songs at the dorm before I sleep even though I just came back from a long and tiring day. Last year, things didn't feel right that's why the album kept getting delayed. I'm not the type of person who writes songs just for the heck of it," G-Dragon said of his musical process.

He then revealed that this personal setback made CEO Yang Hyun Suk worried. "I used to be able to do things with ease, but [this time] the album was delayed further," G-Dragon shared.

But through his slump period, G-Dragon dawned upon a very important realization that would have a great impact on Big Bang.  "Through this promotion, I realized that Big Bang needs all five members to mobilize [as a group]. [It came to a point] when I really contacted the members and said, 'We need to release an album.' I also sent a message to the CEO saying, 'If the company provides space that will allow the members to work together, I think we will be able to create [the album]. From the end of last year to the beginning of this year, we all worked hard together in the studio. This single [album] contains all the song we worked so hard on in the past two or three months."

As to who the inspiration to their music is, G-Dragon said, "People in the music industry say they have a 'muse'. For me, I say the members [of Big Bang] are my muse. When I think about whom I dedicate my work to, it has always been the members. That's how I got over my slump."

Indeed so, Big Bang is stronger when they are together solidly. Congratulations, Big Bang!
