IU Studied Krystal, HyunA, and Girls' Generation To Prepare For Her Role in "The Producers"

IU took cues from Krystal, HyunA, and Girls Generation to emulate charismatic idol mannerisms. IU, Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, and the other cast of the upcoming KBS drama series "The Producers" were all present at the show's press conference, held on May 11 at The Raum.

IU, Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, and the other cast of the upcoming KBS drama series "The Producers" were all present at the show's press conference, held on May 11 at The Raum. At the event, IU revealed how she prepared for her role in the drama.

In "The Producers", singer-actress IU will take on the role of Cindy, is a singer who rose to popularity ever since she became an idol at age 13. Having been in the industry for 10 years, she has earned the nickname "Ice Princess" for her very cautious manner of dealing with interpersonal relationships.

To prepare for her character, IU said she took cues from f(x)'s Krystal, 4minute's HyunA, and the members of Girls' Generation. IU said she's been studying them in order to embody the perfect idol image.

"It's awkward, but I've been studying idol group members around me," IU said. "I've been following a lot of pretty idols. For instance, I find Krystal's skinny figure really pretty, so I was trying to figure out how she pulls off that kind of look," IU added.

IU revealed that she also studied HyunA and Girls Generation for their various charms. "Although we aren't friends, I've been trying to study the charms, hand gestures, and expressions of HyunA and the Girls' Generation members. They have so much charisma on stage."

IU, who has a different style than most idols in real life, shared that she feels awkward having to wear killer high heels while dancing with such a charismatic facial expression. "HyunA and I were born with different [qualities], but I'm working hard [to emulate her style as an idol]," the singer-actress said.

"The Producers" will premiere on May 15.
