Jiyoung is now enjoying her new career as an actress, leaving her years as a member of KARA far behind her. However, the idol-turned-actress has set her eyes on bigger goals: she wants to take on Hollywood!
At the press conference for her latest Japanese flick "Assassination Classroom" held on August 17, Jiyoung revealed that her ultimate goal is to reach Hollywood. The actress revealed that her desire to live the Hollywood dream started when she was studying theatre in London last year. "Though I only entertained the idea for a short while, I remember I did everything. There are people who've seen "Assassination Classroom" and they comment that they had no idea I was Jiyoung from KARA."
Jiyoung continued to say, "I'm studying [acting] with the goal of reaching Hollywood. Even though I attended the Sundance Film Festival last year with some friends, I want to have my own movie screened there someday."
After leaving KARA last year, Jiyoung went to London to study theatre and prepare for her new career as an actress. She made her acting debut in Japan last year through the drama series "Hell Teacher Nube". She has since received praise for her acting skills and has played many starring roles in Japanese-produced movies and TV series. The singer-turned-actress has not revealed any plans to release an album soon, although many are expecting her to release a new album in Japan.
Jiyoung was a member of KARA for 7 years before calling it quits with the group.
