Kim Hyun Joong Reveals He'll Transform Into A Tough Guy In "Inspiring Generation"

Kim Hyun Joong, who was well-known for his role as Ji Hoo in the popular teen drama "Boys Over Flowers", will show off his manlier side in the upcoming drama series "Inspiring Generation".

During the press conference for the upcoming KBS 2TV drama "Inspiring Generation", Kim Hyun Joong shared about his transition from a pretty boy to a more mature and manlier hunk in the series.

The conference, which was held Yeoksamdong, Seoul on December 2, was attended by the drama series' cast Kim Hyun Joong, Lim Soo Hyang, Jin Se Yeon, and Kim Kap Soo together with Director Kim Jung Kyu.

Singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong will take over the role of Shin Jung Tae, the drama's lead character. "It's been a while since I filmed, so I'll my best in this one. I'll do my best to bring out an excellent drama with excellent veteran actors. [My character] Shin Jung Tae is someone who went through a lot of pain in his life, and he grows very lonely because of his relationship with his father when he was a young kid. His character is filled with emotions."

Since this will be his first drama series in a long time, Kim Hyun Joong was asked how he prepared to portray a serious character with a lot of action scenes. "In 'Boys Over Flowers' I put on this pretty boy image, but I will be showing my manlier side for 'Inspiring Generation'. I trained a lot for the action scenes. The drama series will be filled with a lot of highlights including the action scenes and a view of the 1930's."

"Inspiring Generation" will take viewers back to 1930 Shanghai, China. It tells a story of love, friendship, and patriotism of Korean, Chinese, Japanese societies. The Wednesday-Thursday drama will assume "Pretty Man's" slot and will premiere in January 2014.
