Super Junior member Kim Ki Bum has long been out of the spotlight as an idol as he was rumoured to have stepped down from the group to focus on his acting career. While many are doubtful as to whether or not Kim Ki Bum would still appear in future Super Junior promotions, it seems that any chances of him getting back with the group is dim.
The erstwhile member of the group posted on Instagram that he’s finally “finished” with SM Entertainment. The singer wrote, “2015, August 18th. Finished with SM Entertainment. I will begin my new life! Thank you SM, who stuck with me until this day.”
SM Entertainment also confirmed that Kim Ki Bum’s exclusive contract with the agency has expired.
Super Junior member Ryeowook also left an inspiring parting message to his former group mate. Following the news of Kim Ki Bum’s contract expiration, Ryeowook tweeted on August 20, “Ki Bum, I’m always cheering on you! I really hope that you go somewhere you’re happy. I hope that the memories we have together in Super Junior will stay with you forever.”
In recall, Kim Ki Bum has not been active as a member of Super Junior for the last 6 years as he has been focusing on his acting career. His last appearance as a member of Super Junior was in the “It’s You” music video in 2009, but no longer joined the group during promotions. It was also in 2009 that Kim Ki Bum officially announced his temporary leave from the group.
