YouTube released its official list titled "K-Pop Music Video Top 10" on December 10. The list determines which K-pop music videos scored the most viewing points from December 2012 to November 2013.
"Gentleman" by international K-pop star PSY placed first with a staggering 600 million views since its release in April this year. Aside from YouTube's official list, "Gentleman" also found its place in many year-end lists including TIME magazines "Top 10 Viral Videos of 2013", on which the said music video also placed first.
Girls' Generation's "I Got A Boy" trailed in second. The video became a huge hit due to its colourful and varied elements. "I Got A Boy" also earned Girls' Generation the "Video of the Year" trophy at the first ever "YouTube Music Video" awards in November.
Girls' Generation further proved their glorious popularity by entering not just one music video in the list. "Dancing Queen" and "Galaxy Supernova" landed in fifth and sixth place, respectively, despite the latter being a Japanese release.
Super rookie group EXO got two of their music videos into the list. Their mega hit "Growl" placed in third, followed by "Wolf" in fourth. Fellow SM Entertainment artist f(x) was in seventh place with "Rum Pum Pum Pum", while Super Junior M's "Break Down" sat in eighth place.
PSY's YG Entertainment hoobaes, 2NE1, also secured a spot in the list. "Falling In Love" was in ninth place.
Finally, at tenth place was 4minute with "What's Your Name?"
In other lists, dance team Waveya's dance cover of PSY's "Gentleman" and Girls' Generation's "I Got A Boy" made it to first and third place on YouTube's list of most viewed songs produced by Korean YouTube users.
The list most popular Youtube channels run by Korean artists or agencies includes SM Entertainment, Big Bang, Mnet, MBC K-pop, and more.
