T-ara, the queen girl group, has been through a lot of controversies ever since they debuted last 2009. They have been called "Super Rookies" because they keep on garnering a high level of interest from the public even before their debut.

Originally an Mnet Media five-member group composed of Jiae, Jiwon,Hyomin, Jiyeon and Eunjung, T-ara was featured in the soundtrack of the drama, "Cinderella Man" in 2009, even before their official debut.  But in June 2009, Jiae and Jiwon announced that they will be leaving the group because of having different music styles, leaving only three people. However, Mnet Media announced that T-ara will be a six member group, adding Boram, Qri and Soyeon and the group from Mnet Media was carried over to Core Contents Media.

In their first performance in Mnet's M Countdown in July 30, the viewers noticed that the group was lip synching, thus making the group already in a negative spot. The group said afterwards that future performances would be live. The group then moved forward making its name known, achieving awards for their songs.

It was the 2010 when T-ara added a new member, Hwayoung, making them a seven-member group, in the promotions of their song, "Why Are You Being Like This." The group made it's extended play for "John Travolta Wannabe," their second mini album, with the song, "Roly Poly." The group also made its way in the Japanese market.

In 2012, Core Contents Media announced to be adding again two more members, Areum and Dani, making them a nine-member group, releasing their hits, "Day by Day," and "Lovey Dovey." However, in July 30, Hwayoung's contact was terminated due to in deference to the complaints of nineteen staff members of T-ara. Hwayoung's departure was also said to be because of the bullying incidents of the members to her.  Due to the heavy accusations, T-ara suspended their activities.

The group continued their promotions in Japan, thus, making Japanese versions of "Day by Day" and "Sexy Love."

This year, the group also formed a sub-unit, T-ara N4 and have performed as an opening act in Chris Brown's show in America. However, while T-ara was on its way in making a comeback, member Ahreum decides to leave to pursue her career individually.

T-ara has been through its ups and downs. With controversies arising and yet, they still have surpassed it. With members leaving, still they continue to be the Queen Girl group. T-ara is scheduled to come back the Korean scene with six members this Octobr 10.
