On January 22, Hwayoung got to be interviewed by TV Daily and had expressed about her dating life.

She was asked then about celebrity dating, Hwayoung replied, "I still have not had a decent dating experience. I am what they call a motae solo ---someone who had always been single."

She added, "I never was that interested in men. Right now, I am more focused on my work than on dating. This is why I greatly look forward to the kiss scene I'm bound to have someday while acting."

She also stated that INFINITE's Sungjong is a good friend. Every time they displayed signs of their friendship, they would become a hot issue. Hwayoung then said, "We are perfect friends who do not see each other as a member of the opposite sex. I feel sorry, but I do not see him as a man," and grinned, maybe imagining Sungjong's certainly amusing reaction.
